Please note that any processing of your personal information in connection with cookies, and for other purposes, is governed by our Privacy Statement.

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses cookies to help the website analyse how users use the site.

The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

For more information please visit www.google.com/analytics/.

This website also uses the Meta Pixel, a service provided by Meta (Facebook and Instagram). It lets us measure how our adverts on Facebook and Instagram perform and show relevant Kenya Airways Duty Free offers to people who have visited our site. For more information please visit www.facebook.com/privacy/policies/cookies/.

Google Analytics is only switched on if you allow Performance cookies, and the Meta Pixel only if you allow Targeting cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookies Settings button below.

Cookies when you shop with us

Kenya Airways Duty Free lets you pre-order duty-free goods online and have them handed to you on board your flight. These are the cookies and similar technologies that make that work, and what each one does.

Your basket and pre-order

When you add a product to your basket we set a WooCommerce session cookie (wp_woocommerce_session_*). It keeps your basket, and the details you enter at checkout, together as you move between pages, so your pre-order reaches us complete.

Two more cookies (woocommerce_items_in_cart and woocommerce_cart_hash) tell the site when your basket changes, so the basket count and total in the header stay up to date. A copy of the mini basket is kept in your browser’s session storage and is cleared when you close the tab.

You cannot place a pre-order without these, so they are strictly necessary.

Your flight details

Duty-free pre-orders are handed to you on board, so we need to know which flight you are taking. When you add your flight, your browser keeps the flight number, departure time and booking reference you entered (kqdf_flight), and the flight you chose in the departures bar (kqdf_myflight).

We use them to fill in your flight at checkout and to show how long you have left to pre-order. They stay on your device and are not sent to us until you place an order. You can remove your flight at any time, and the departures bar forgets your flight once it has left.

Signing in and your account

If you create an account or sign in, WordPress sets wordpress_logged_in_* and wordpress_sec_* so you stay signed in as you move around the site and only you can see your account pages. They are removed when you sign out or close your browser, or after 14 days if you tick “Remember me”. wordpress_test_cookie checks that your browser accepts cookies when you sign in.

You can also sign in with Google or Facebook. If you do, a short-lived cookie (SESSnsl) remembers where you were while you go to Google or Facebook and back. It is removed when you close your browser. Google and Facebook use their own cookies on their own sites, and their cookie policies apply there.

Paying for your pre-order

We do not keep your card details in cookies. If you are taken to a payment provider’s page to pay, that provider may use its own cookies, which are covered by its own policy.

Prices in your currency

Prices are shown in US dollars. If you switch to Kenyan shillings, pounds or euros, the kqdf_cur cookie remembers your choice. With Functional cookies allowed it is kept for 12 months; otherwise it is removed when you close your browser. No cookie is set if you keep US dollars.

Product reviews

If you write a product review and tick the box to save your details, WordPress remembers your name and email address (comment_author_*) for your next review, for up to 347 days.

Newsletter sign-up

Our newsletter sign-up form is provided by Hostinger Reach. With Functional cookies allowed, your browser notes when you have seen the form (reach_imp_*) so it is not shown to you too often. Without them, we remove this note.

How you found us

With Performance cookies allowed, WooCommerce records where your visit came from, for example a search engine, an email from us, a link on another website or typing our address, and adds it to your order when you check out (sbjs_* cookies). This shows us which campaigns lead to pre-orders.

This information stays on this website and is not shared with advertisers. sbjs_session ends after 30 minutes without activity; the others are removed when you close your browser.

Measuring how the site is used

With Performance cookies allowed, we use Google Analytics to see which pages and products are viewed most, how visitors move through the shop and where they leave, so we can make pre-ordering easier. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_* on this website. We see this information in reports, not who you are.

Without Performance cookies, Google Analytics is not loaded and we remove any of its cookies.

Our adverts on Facebook and Instagram

With Targeting cookies allowed, we use the Meta Pixel to see whether visitors who came from our adverts on Facebook or Instagram go on to browse or pre-order, and to show relevant Kenya Airways Duty Free offers to people who have visited our site. The Meta Pixel sets _fbp, and _fbc when you arrive from one of our adverts. If you use Facebook or Instagram, Meta may also read its own fr cookie.

Without Targeting cookies, the Meta Pixel is not loaded and we remove its cookies from this website. Meta’s own cookie policy applies to cookies it sets on its own sites.

Keeping pages fast

Our pages are stored in a cache so they load quickly. When you have items in your basket or are signed in, the _lscache_vary cookie makes sure you see your own basket and account rather than a stored copy of the page.

Your cookie choices

Your choices from the cookie banner are kept in kqdf_consent for 180 days. After that we ask again. You can change them at any time with the Cookies Settings button under “Refusing or withdrawing your consent to the use of Cookies” below.

Third-party services

With your permission we use Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, as described above. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and the newsletter form from Hostinger Reach. Your browser contacts these services to load them, and their own privacy policies apply.

Refusing or withdrawing your consent to the use of Cookies

Except where allowed by applicable law, we place cookies after having received your consent through the cookie banner or preference center. You can change your cookie settings, per cookie category, at any time by clicking on the "Cookie Settings" button below (except for strictly necessary cookies that are required for the proper functioning of the site):

You can also refuse or withdraw your consent to the use of cookies and disable them at any time by changing the settings on your browser. However, please note that if you do so, it may affect your ability to properly use this website.
